Hey software engineers!

MilkRun (localmilkrun.com) is looking for a software engineer to join our team! We’re a Portland-based startup working toward changing the way that local farmers and producers provide food to their communities. We connect with small producers — farmers, bakers, butchers, and makers — and deliver what they grow and make directly to peoples’ houses.

We’re a completely operational (and rapidly growing) online marketplace but and looking for the right person to join our team! We’re looking for somebody passionate (or knowledgable) about food/food systems, or interested in learning.

Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science or relevant field with 2+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Experience with Ruby (not rails), React & Bootstrap, and proficient in relational database management. Ease switching between front-end and back-end workflows.
- Experience/passion for a metrics based, hypothesis driven approach to development.
- Passionate about deeply focusing on customer challenges and coming up with simple/elegant solutions.
- Possessing self-awareness, a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and empathy.

Responsibilities
- Build, improve & maintain every aspect of MilkRun’s technical infrastructure.
- Follow engineering best practices to ensure code quality, performance and reliability.
- Collaborate effectively with teammates, contributing to a creative environment with a can-do attitude.
- Regularly share your point of view on the direction of the business, prioritization and approach, with a focus on problem solving.

We believe that by making local food shopping simpler, and local food growing and logistics more efficient, we can achieve a pretty amazing result: develop an alternative to today’s global food system that is better for the people eating it and growing it.
