The Role

Our Audience Engineering team leverages SurveyMonkey’s core survey platform to power SurveyMonkey Audience. SurveyMonkey Audience allows small businesses to quickly and affordably get feedback from real customers. Our platform finds and matches survey takers to potential surveys based on demographic search criteria in real time. Anyone can sign up to take surveys and we donate money to charity for each survey completed. Since launching, we’ve donated over $9 million dollars to charity.

 
Our team is growing! We’re looking for engineers that don’t just love solving challenging technical problems, but care about who we’re solving these problems for. We work closely with our product owners and our customers, iterating quickly to ensure we build the best solution for our users. In addition to scaling our website, we are looking for engineers who can solve problems from end to end. Our engineers contribute to the full stack of development, from data and schema storage to interactive JavaScript, and everything in between.
 
Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain a high-traffic website, built primarily in JavaScript and Python
• Top-to-bottom ownership of new features, including crafting technical specs, writing readable and extensible code, and keeping tabs on post-release metrics
• Help grow SurveyMonkey Contribute in new markets (international) and devices (mobile)
• Use search technologies like SOLR

Requirements:

• In-depth, hands-on knowledge of Python and experience working with the relevant tools
• Experience with web frameworks and libraries in Python (Pyramid, Django), JavaScript (React) or other language (such as Ruby on Rails)
• Strong communication skills to collaborate closely with peers, culture of code reviews and writing tech specs.
• Able to write efficient SQL queries and design schemas for relational databases
• Extensive experience with Unix/Linux environment for troubleshooting, profiling and performance tuning.
• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent
• 5+ years of programming experience
