Senior Operations Engineer

Cloudability is seeking an Operations Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and familiarity with AWS, administering modern web applications, administering big data stacks, and be willing to learn and teach the latest practices in operations engineering. What you’ll do (Responsibilities):

• Extend our infrastructure automation for multiple AWS regions

• Enhance internal tools and services for higher availability and multi-region support

• Build service discovery tooling to support of microservices architecture

• Contribute to our deployment pipeline to enable us to build blue/green deployment, rolling multiregion upgrades, and staged releases

• Work with all layers of our application from DNS to SQL queries to enhance availability, performance, and cost efficiency

• Mentor and develop other engineerings in operations best practices

The right candidate will have (Requirements):

• A strong operational background familiar with systems automation using software like Puppet, Chef or Ansible

• Familiarity with AWS, especially infrastructure management products such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Packer, and Spinnaker

• Experience with software packaging and deployment.

• Experience with administration of software through data collection and forensics. We strive to be proactive managing our applications and understand the changes we introduce.

• Regard for cost management in cloud services, it’s the core of our business and is essential in a modern SAAS startup

• Capable of participating in technical conversations and decisions as well as documenting the results

Bonus Stuff:

• Deep experience with AWS Services, especially, EC2, ELB/ALB, ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, RDS, CloudFormation, IAM, WAF, Kinesis, and DynamoDB

• Experience running GCP or Azure in production

• Network Administration with a focus on DNS Availability, VPC Management, and VPN Administration

• Experience in building continuous integration environments for java services, Particularly building and maintaining Jenkins and build tool chains
