At Rigado, the solutions engineering team is responsible for helping clients in key markets develop our products into their system. Our work begins with consulting with the client to understand their challenges. Then we brainstorm solutions drawing from industry experience and team problem solving; challenging ourselves to ensure the most important questions for the client are being answered quickly and effectively. Once we have a plan, we divide and conquer. Our team excels at being able to independently drive towards a common solution, ownership is key. You'll work with a team of engineers to get things done most of the time, but you should be comfortable with self-direction as well.

As an engineer on the solutions team, you will help design, build, and test systems based on human analyses. You must be flexible and comfortable with rapidly changing requirements. You should also feel comfortable challenging assumptions and articulating recommendations. As a valued member of the team, you'll have expertise the rest of the team does not. You'll need to communicate the resulting perspective effectively to a team with diverse technical backgrounds.

You're right for this role if:

  • You are a generalizing specialist: someone with an area of expertise along with a broader skill set
  • You have strong engineering background; related to embedded systems disciplines preferred (software/firmware engineering, computer science)
  • You want to work on projects with clients that helps unlock the enormous potential of IoT
  • You have familiarity with IoT infrastructure, design patterns, backend systems, and system engineering tools
  • You want the opportunity to work as a full stack developer, microcontrollers all the way up to the cloud
  • You understand how technical decisions impact the end users of what you're building
  • You demonstrate the ability to continuously identify opportunities for improvement
  • You have proficiency with programming -- regardless of language or how you learned it, you have an ability to write effective code that solves a problem
  • You have analytical skills for evaluating project opportunities and thinking outside the immediate application.

Recommended skills for this role:

  • A variety of languages: C, python, go, nodejs/javascript
  • Practical experience with Bluetooth and Nordic-based microcontrollers
  • Linux systems; specifically, Ubuntu Core and Yocto
  • Ubuntu snap containerization
  • Experience interfacing with cloud-based backends: AWS, Azure
  • Git-based software development workflow
  • Agile-based workflows and tracking tools (Trello, Jira, etc.)
