Torch is a Portland-based startup building tools for creatives working in augmented reality.

Torch’s mission is to contribute positively to the next stage of human-computer interaction using augmented and virtual reality. We're building a cloud-based platform for UI/UX design prototyping and collaboration for AR. In this a high-impact role you will be help educate designers and other creatives about what is possible with Torch AR, our augmented reality design tool. Reporting to the COO and working directly with the head of marketing, design director and CEO, you will be responsible for both content creation (demos, videos, prototypes) and communications (social and email).

We use Intercom and Mailchimp to communicate with users, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator and After Effects, plus our own Torch AR, to build demos, and we have a growing presence on social media. These are the tools and environments where you will spend most of your time.

Your main responsibilities include...

  • Creating new Torch demos, digital assets for blogs, social posts, and emails.

  • Creating content for online ads and managing campaigns.

  • Identifying and sharing content to designer-focused blogs and website.

  • Maintaining social accounts and imbuing our posts with genuine human personality.

  • Performing regular assessment of website performance and work with design team to implement A/B testing and website improvements.

  • Monitoring analytics for our pipeline, including Google Analytics, user management systems, and whatever else it takes to track the success of marketing through an understanding of data.

  • Collaborating with Design Director to facilitate design sprints, workshops and brainstorming sessions.

  • Collaborating with the Product Designer and Design Director to build user interfaces, animations and transitions and then iterate rapidly based on user feedback.

  • Questioning accepted design perspectives and breaking new ground where traditional design paradigms don’t make sense.

  • Visualising and prototyping concepts to communicate and test ideas.

Ideally you’d have...

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent writing skills

  • Comfort working on both analytical and creative tasks.

  • A solid understanding of marketing and demand/lead generation

  • A basic understanding of SEO, website design, and conversion

  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Adwords

  • Experience with social media channels

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and Sketch
