DAT Solutions is looking for a UX Design Manager to join our Product Management team in Beaverton, Oregon.

The UX Design Manager is an integral player on the Product team and is responsible for the overall design process and technical direction supporting software projects and product teams. As the lead designer this position will translate strategy, vision, business needs and requirements into technical specifications. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communications skills and the ability to successfully interact with fellow product managers, development team members and project managers on a daily basis.  This position is responsible for research, user interaction design, web development strategy, integration, documentation, maintenance and upgrade of various web based systems used by DAT. The UX Design Manager position also has significant responsibility in the growth and mentoring of other interaction designers on the UX team.

User Experience Design Manager Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide design leadership, mentoring and direction to other team members
  • Create and design engaging, usable and effective interaction design solutions for web & mobile applications
  • Create multiple concepts that fulfill product requirements, articulate the merits of each concept and make recommendations
  • Create and communicate complex interactions via a variety of deliverables such as wireframes, user flows, or prototypes
  • Use judgment and quantitative and qualitative research (from working with customers and prospects) to validate designs and suggest solutions
  • Collaborate with product managers, researchers, visual designers, and content developers to optimize for customer needs, business constraints and technological realities
  • Documenting design decisions and interaction guidelines
  • Work with a diverse team to cultivate ideas and positively influence design direction
  • Serve as an advocate for the end-user
  • Promote consistency across products
  • Interview and provide technical assessments of potential IxD hires

User Experience Design Manager Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years experience in front end web and/or mobile design
  • 4+ years of interaction design experience in delivering high-volume, high-profile, or award-winning web sites or products; preferably experience with SaaS and mobile applications
  • Experience implementing Google’s Material Design system a must
  • Experience with Angular framework is a plus, Material Angular even better
  • Familiarity with web and mobile technologies and their impact on the feasibility of design solutions
  • Proficient in design tools like Photoshop, Sketch, Invision, Abstract, etc.
  • General knowledge in server-side technologies, including: CSS, JSP, jQuery, etc.
  • Experience with applying user-centered design processes while working collaboratively with customers, along with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and user research
  • Conduct formal and informal usability testing
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and processes, experience with Agile development processes a plus
  • Effective communicator, presenter and negotiator
  • Strong portfolio available for viewing
  • Minimum BA/BS degree in Human Computer Interaction or Factors and/or Computer Science or Interaction Design related field
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Well organized with strong detail orientation
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Very high productivity and effective time management
  • Can successfully juggle multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Ability to proactively adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical
  • A passion for high quality results
  • Deep commitment to ongoing professional development and learning

Candidates must be willing and able to take full responsibility for a project or task from concept to completion with minimal supervision. They must also have a desire to collaborate, share ideas, and works towards common team/company goals.
